Many gamers have been heavily disgruntled by FIFA. The once untouchable-game, has seen tones of negative press, and reviews. Leaving the gate wide-open for a new football game to come take FIFA’s throne. Enter UFL, a free-to-play football video game developed and published by Strikerz Inc.
This new, upcoming football game has given players a few things to love and complain about.
One of the top complaints being – poor joypad latency, also known as input lag. Which is best described as – the delay between the time you press a button on your gamepad and the time the action is registered in the game. But, some players seem to have noticed that this issue isn’t too noticeable when playing offline.
Aaaah, yes… offline gaming! Music to my ears.
Upon hearing all the different feedback from various gamers, I had to take the time to say – we need more offline game modes (across all game genres). Things like slow server connectivity, and multiple game launcher accounts are deteriorating player-enjoyment.
It’s ok to have online gaming modes as an option! Even I (the Botmaster) play and enjoy online games, mainly Krosmaga. But, when servers get shutdown, and things aren’t running well, don’t you wish you’d have the choice to play offline, with friends. Or even against well-made bots.
Other problems with UFL
Apart from poor joypad latency, UFL also seems to have poorly modelled player-likenesses. You are not always 100% convinced that Ronaldo is truly Ronaldo. And, as of now we haven’t seen a PC version yet. I’ll check again to confirm. Hopefully when the game properly launches or Steam or something, we will have a well-polished FIFA killer.
As a new kid on the block, this game doesn’t have a strong global server coverage yet. And, that needs to be improved when you are dealing with online gaming. Sigh, having enough servers! That is one the main barriers to entry in today’s gaming world. In an age where gamers are obsessed with online gaming.
Another issue that might help, or plague this game is that – it has Ronaldo, as one of its investors. Which is great news for Ronaldo fans! But, that might end up marginalizing away fans of Messi. Maybe, maybe not. Only time will tell. But in my opinion, as long as the final product is good (online and offline), the developers don’t have to worry about much else.
