Can I use a drawing tablet to play games?

Published on

Nowadays, more and more of us are getting access to new types of hardware. Even here in Zimbabwe, where I’m blogging from. Globally, consumers now have stuff like – VR gear, 3D printers, drawing tablets, and more. And, usually before you buy a brand new drawing tablet, with a screen on it. You’ll usually spend some time Googling things/perks that come with having a tablet. Which may lead you to ask questions like – Can I use a drawing tablet to play games?

Yes! Most definitely. I use my XP-Pen for everything. I have one of those which comes with a display screen. If yours doesn’t have a screen, then you are better off using a mouse. Unless you have some kind of drag and drop game which you feel MUST be played eccentrically. Then, in that case… who am I to stop you? Go ahead, grab your magic-wand and do your thing, Harry! While the rest of us (the muggles) shall stick to screened-tablets which can be used as monitors.

Once you purchase and install a drawing table (also known as a pen display monitor), it can do all the things your monitor does. And then some!

You can still use it to watch as a regular monitor, as long as you have a stand with a good-enough angle. If its positioned comfortably enough you can watch movies, type documents, surf the internet, play videos, and do all the things you’d normally do with any regular monitor. That’s why more and more manufacturers now refer to them as pen display ‘monitors.’

Weather or not you can use your pen (as a mouse) to play games is another story. Your pen can still click and drag things (if that’s a function you’ve got in your game). But you’d probably be better of using a mouse or joypad for any of that stuff. It’s more natural that way, at least for most gamers. I hope you have been helped….
