If you reading this article, then you probably already know about For Honor, which was published by Ubisoft. And now, you find yourself asking – Is this fighting game (released in 2017) still worth playing today? Is For Honor still worth playing?
Is For Honor still worth playing?
Personally I think that the game is NOT worth playing. Which is shame, because my reasons for saying that, are very fixable. The game has a lot to give, including an advance bot system.
Gamers have discovered and noted that For Honor’s bots tend to “level up” as you win more and more fights against real/online players. The more you win online, the more your bots level up. And, if you lose your online matches (or choose not to play versus real people) then your bots do not evolve. They remain somewhat weak and rather basic. Until you win some fights online.
As a website that’s solely dedicated towards games with bots, we must say – that is a very unique system.
Too unique, unfortunately.
The problems with For Honor’s bots
The most obvious problem with For Honor’s bot matches (single player) is that – you need a persistent internet connection, in order to play solo. Sigh. Need I say more?
Most gamers would never applaud or support the idea of single player game-modes that NEED an internet connection. Why would they? When playing solo, one doesn’t feel the need to log into an online server. A server that will (probably) get shutdown one day, and consequently brick the entire game.
The bot system
Those who have played For Honor have also sited some complaints over the single player experience. Chief of which is – the idea that your bot allies and bot opponents will remain very basic (unchallenging) until your play and win several online matches against real people.
In other words, you can not just select a difficultness-level for your bots.
Which means, the more your master the game.. the more you will have to go back to the online arena and win against human players. In order to level up the bots to your own level. And, if you loose the bots’ level will drop down with you.
As an offline gamer, I can not begin to express how horrible that system is.
Some of us play really well against bots, and also welcome the idea of going up against bots that are more skilled than I am. But, For Honor caps and throttles all that. Which is rather unfortunate, because they probably put in a lot of work into their bot system.
Unfortunately most “bot gamers” prefer to just select a difficulty level, and play.
Offline.
