Is Star Wars: Hunters already doomed?

A lot of game studio executives aren’t listening. Several gamers from across all genres keep demanding for games that are playable offline! Either versus bots, or in a well constructed single-player campaign. But, studios just want to make live service games! Frantically jumping from one flop, to another. Until the studio runs itself into the ground. Leaving our beloved IPs forever trapped, in the hands of boardroom sharks and corporate lawyers with no passion for games. I hope Star Wars: Hunters will avoid all that sticky mess.

It may sound like I’m ranting, but that’s because (like most gamers) I am tired. Tired of trying to spell out the writing on the wall. The gaming industry is being damaged by an endless flood of online gaming/MOBAs with no offline content or bots, and live service games.

And Star Wars: Hunters seems to have missed a golden opportunity. Their new promo material makes no mention of an offline mode, or bots. Many games (even those with bots) never really highlight and celebrate their offline game modes. Which is rather unfortunate, because that’s some of the stuff which people want to know.

Star Wars: Hunters needs offline bots

I have now watched several (not all) of the game’s promo trailers. And I (like I said) couldn’t find an promo info on the inclusion of bots, and an offline mode. Or even some kind of single-player campaign of sorts. I haven’t heard or seen any news on any of that.

But, since the game hasn’t been released yet, I’ll wait. Let’s all wait and see. Maybe the developers heard our ongoing/collective cries, and gave us good offline bots. And maybe (just maybe) we might also find some single-player/offline game modes. But, I wouldn’t hold my breath! Which is rather unfortunate, because the game looks really fun. Good luck Star Wars: Hunters, you’ll need it.

About this blog

Are you also struggling to find good, enjoyable, high quality video games? Me too, along with good-chunk of modern gamers. And, because of that: I started a blog that showcases the problems we have (as gamers). Alongside the solutions we need, stuff like; reviving neglected genres, embracing offline gaming, and the power of having AI players (bots). Well-made offline bots, with adjustable difficulty levels.
